Continuing with this week's theme of K's Halloween costume, today's piece is a black necktie - very necessary.
I thought about making a tie similar to a regular man's tie, but then I remembered I'd have to tie it onto a wiggly two-year old. I don't see that turning out well. I looked online as was pleased as punch to find a little boy necktie tutorial from one of my favorite sewing blogs. A Velcro band seems way more up our alley.
This was pretty foolproof given that I seem to have forgotten all of my middle school math and cut the fabric incorrectly. I just folded and tucked a bit here and there and you'd would never be the wiser looking at it (from the front - see how things don't exactly line up in back??).
If I had a reason to put K into a tie, I'd totally use this tutorial again. I think the result is adorable. Too bad it's black and looks like he's headed to a funeral.
So, there you have it! A yellow vest, gray pants, and a black necktie - all necessary components of this character's outfit.
Also, the white shirt used in the photos here is part of the costume, but I didn't make it. Luckily we had a button down shirt for the little guy.
Any guesses yet?!?
I love the outfit so far, but I have no idea what the costume is yet. When are we going to find out! Maybe a couple hints would help. :)
ReplyDeleteIf your little guy was one year older, there's a super good chance you'd know. I'll tell at the end of the week, but no photos of K until Halloween.
DeleteSeriously, the only hints I can think of would totally give it away. Guess you'll have to wait... ;)
